About the AHSC
The Australian Historical Swordplay Federation (AHSF) holds an annual conference where common interest groups may come to discuss, learn, experience and impart researched knowledge on historic weapons play. The Federation is made up of many leading groups in Australia in the area of historical European combat systems.
At the Conference, attendees have the privilege of learning from some of the worlds most renowned leaders in historical swordplay. Through lectures, workshops, demonstrations and combat, attendees have an exciting opportunity to explore the weapons play of the medieval and renaissance period.
Typically, all presenters utilise Masters manual’s from the period of their chosen field of research, to interpret and expound upon, to present their knowledge and its application to like minded enthusiasts.
If you are a novice, an enthusiast, or experienced historic combatant, you will find something of interest and take away new skills to inspire you to further your own activities. Presentations may include workshopping in historic weapons, such as sword, greatsword, polearms, rapier, cudgel and companion weapons.
If you do not have your own equipment or safety gear, then you are still able to participate. A range of equipment will be available for participants to borrow during the presentations.
This years conference theme shall be ‘Mobility in Combat’. Weapons play involves not only singular techniques, but the ability to apply these techniques effectively into a free flowing combat with an opponent. At the 2006 Conference, we shall be exploring this through our presentations and workshops and encourage you to join us.
