Venue & Accommodation

As you are aware, the venue for this this years convention is Greensborough Secondary College in Greensbourgh.

It is near the end of the Northern Ring Road in the North-East suburbs of Melbourne. It can found on Google Maps here.

There are plenty of places to stay, for example.

To make things easy, pickups will be available for any nearby accommodation with prior notice.

There will also be some beds (or floors) available for a number of participants.

Who can come and is there any legal issues in Victoria?

Everyone is welcome to attend the convention. We are not restricting this event to just members of the Federation.

If you are from Re-enactment, SCA or Eastern Martial Arts background, you are all just as welcome to attend and participate.

However due to the State of Victoria’s position on swords, their ownership and usage, we have to take some details into consideration.

  1. It is recommended that all overseas and interstate participants register early so the organisers can send you documentation confirming your attendance and paperwork on the Victorian Control of Weapons Act 1990 and the related ammendments.
  2. That to actively participate in any workshop in which a sword will be handled, you must be able to display that you are a member of an organisation which holds an exemption for the state’s prohibition act on swords. Failure to do will related in not being able to participate in some workshops.
  3. You must be able to secure your swords left left unattended. We do have an overnight secure location if you not wish to take your weapons back to where you are staying overnight.
  4. You must obey to the best of your ability any requests by the Event Organisers relating to the swords safe use or storage. This is for your safety and safety of all participants.

More details will be provided in a future update as to the requirements on Sword Use in Victoria.

Cost

We are currently expecting the cost of the event to be between $150 and $200. There will be a discount for the early birds.

Master Classes will also be run with Stefan Dieke and very small classes and expect these to be sold out early in registration. They will be at a cost of $50 per Master Class.
If you have any questions regarding this, please contact Scott Nimmo.
